Online Therapy in Illinois (Telehealth)
Do you need support but can’t make it to an in-person appointment? Are you a busy parent, a professional, a caregiver, or someone in the middle of medical treatment? Do you live far from the western suburbs, or simply prefer to do things virtually? Telehealth brings the same clinical care to wherever you are in Illinois.

Telehealth is especially helpful for
- Busy professionals and parents who can’t add a commute
- Individuals with chronic illness, mobility limits, or compromised immunity
- Clients undergoing cancer or other medical treatment
- Caregivers with limited time away from home
- People in early recovery who need consistent, accessible support
- Clients in rural Illinois or far from the Chicago suburbs
- Anyone who feels safer and more open in their own space
How online therapy works
Telehealth allows me to provide counseling and therapy via live, secure video conferencing. It can be done anywhere you have a computer, tablet, or smartphone and a private space. Sessions are HIPAA-compliant and offer the same level of clinical care as in-person appointments, with added flexibility and privacy.
You can request an appointment directly online and have the entire therapy process, from intake paperwork to ongoing sessions, take place digitally. While you don’t strictly need a video camera, I do recommend using one so we can read each other fully.
What you need
- A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer)
- A reliable internet connection
- A private, quiet space where you won’t be interrupted
- Headphones, if privacy at home is limited
- To be physically located in Illinois at the time of your session
Who can use telehealth with Affirm Behavioral Health
I am licensed in Illinois, which means I can see clients by telehealth anywhere in the state: Chicago, the suburbs, Rockford, Peoria, Springfield, Champaign, Bloomington, the Quad Cities, Carbondale, and every community in between. Online sessions are available for individual therapy, couples counseling, addiction and co-occurring disorder treatment, trauma therapy, grief counseling, and oncology support.
Is online therapy as effective?
For most concerns, research finds telehealth psychotherapy comparable to in-person care, with higher attendance because the barriers are lower. Some situations, such as acute crisis or certain assessments, are better served in person or at a higher level of care. We will talk through what is right for you, and you can switch between formats as your needs change.
